Timberlands – Eastern Creek Road Causeway

Continuing our great relationship with Timberlands Pacific, we were asked to undertake the project of upgrading and repairing a major river crossing on Eastern Creek Road, Scamander.

Combining Giraffe Civil and Brett Carlson Building ‘s experience our first step was to create stable footings to be then tied into the above concrete slab to add strength and also to prevent any undermining wash outs of the causeway.



Clay Stockpiling – Austral Brick, Longford

Giraffe Civil Contracting have a been bulk hauling clay from four different quarries around the north of the state to Austral Bricks, Longford for over 20 years.

Controlling all mining leases and permits for Austral Bricks, Giraffe excavate, blend, haul and stockpile approx. 50,000 cubic meters per year.


Tas Irrigation’s Pipeline – Camden Hill

Giraffe Civil Contracting working under VEC Civil Engineering won the tenders to de-stump approx. 8kms of old growth & plantation. with also picking up other work along the way, with Access roads to pump stations, turbines etc. all roads meeting Forest Practice Codes with drainage and gradient requirements.

Bio-Solid Removal – TasWater

Giraffe Civil Contracting have been awarded numerous contracts from TasWater to handle and remove Bio-Soilds from sewerage lagoons around Tasmania. From Liquid form to semi-solid form using our Environmental Licences/Permits to transport the material to licenced agricultural grounds around Tasmania.

Bridport Old Pier Beach Erosion Control

Giraffe Civil Contracting was awarded the tender to stop the ocean eroding the picnic area bank at the Old Pier Beach at Bridport. Looking at a few options to control this with retaining walls, rocks etc.

We decided to install Geotextile Sand Bags supplied by GeoTas which are specifically designed and manufactured nonwoven, needle punched, staple fibre geotextile. Enhanced filtration combined with resistance to puncture, abrasion and UV make these ideal for use in coastal applications providing maximum durability in harsh conditions. These can be filled with sand, soil, gravel or a combination of all three materials.




Timberlands Pacific – Springfield Cable Road

Giraffe Civil Contracting working alongside Mike Hammersley on a cable logging road in Springfield, North-East region of Tasmania.

Our Doosan DX225 excavator was busy forming up roads, constructing log truck turning holes and passing bays as well as construction of a timber retaining walls to control bank erosion and potential landslip hazards.








TasWater – Isandula Dam Access Road

Giraffe Civil Contracting were awarded the tender for the construction of TasWater’s  Access Track to the bottom of the Isandula Dam, Ulverstone TAS

The access track was to meet all Forestry Tasmania’s codes of practice, making what was in some places a 60% gradient hill-side into a desired gradient of 15-20%  by cutting and benching our way to the bottom.




Small Towns Water Supply Program

Giraffe Civil Contracting were involved in the Northern Tasmania’s Small Towns Water Upgrade Program.

Mathinna upgrades started in January 2018 and was completed by March 2018, Giraffe Civil were contracted under Water Industries Solutions to dig and lay the new water services in and through the township, covering a file4-1[2979]distance of approx. 2km’s.
